Plenty of Christians can name the saint they knew – the person of faith who drew them down the path to a Christian life. Here’s one example.
About 40 years ago when I was in my late 20’s, I spent two summers at Manitoba Pioneer camp as maintenance director and met Gordon Stewart who was the director of the camp. I was very impressed with Gordon as he lived his faith. When he had to deal with adults or students with problems, he was both direct and compassionate.
Personally, I regarded him as my mentor, the person that I admired greatly and the person that I would like to become. I thank God for the experience of being able to get to know this person who is a member of the communion of saints and who has greatly influenced my life.
