Chad Children

The children of the parish, in biblical garb, led the congregation out toward their new home.

After prayerful consideration and due to declining membership and the high cost of maintaining a large aging building, St Chad’s parishioners made the decision to dissolve our relationship with Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic Parish in the Assiniboia Christian Centre.

A final service was held on Sunday, October 27, with many former parishioners in attendance. Our children, dressed in biblical garb, led the final recession of the altar party and choir out of the sanctuary, on the symbolic journey to a new home.

Bishop Don Phillips and Archbishop James Wiesgerber officiated at a service at the ACC on November 2, at which our ecumenical journey of 45 years was honoured. On Nov 3, St Chad’s celebrated its first Sunday service at our new location at 472 Kirkfield Ave. in Westwood, where we are renting space from Kirkfield Park United Church. The children, once again in biblical dress, led the altar party into our new Sanctuary.

Many thanks to the congregation of Kirkfield Park for making us feel so welcome and a special thankyou to our diocesan brothers and sisters whose prayers for us during these last few difficult years were greatly appreciated. St Chad’s continues to be a vital parish and with this move we will be able to continue to be a viable one as well.
