St Mary Magdalene: Fundraiser for synod office accessibility

On Friday Nov 15, St Mary Magdalene hosted a musical concert “Lift Your Spirits: Playing for the Love of Music” – a fund raiser for the elevator/ramp/washroom project at the Diocesan office in Fort Garry. Nine performers, of varying backgrounds, and ranging in age from 10 years and up performed a wide variety of music for the enjoyment of the audience.

The program was developed by our Music Director Nancy Aasland who drew upon the skills of members of our parish family, their friends, former choir members and leaders, as well as the gifted musicianship of Michele Barr who is Minister of Worship and Music at neighboring Faith Lutheran Church.

$1,167 raised to help make all levels of the synod office accessible

Admission was by donation and we were very pleased to present Bishop Donald with a cheque for $1,167 at the recent ‘Open House’ at the centre where the space is now shared with Lutheran Bishop Elaine Sauer and her staff. The building is a busier place and with provincial accessibility legislation soon coming into effect it is good that all levels of the building are now accessible.
