Laurie Ward, church builder

DSC_0006DSC_0004I came to Winnipeg in 1946 to attend St John’s College School in the North End of the city. On Sunday mornings the boarders marched across Main Street to attend service at St John’s Cathedral.

On graduation I took a job as office boy at Moody and Moore Architects, located on Broadway. There I met Laurie Ward who was very helpful to me and I learned much about office procedure from him. Laurie’s contribution to church building in the diocese was very valuable. I believe he not only designed St Anne’s, but also Grace/St John in Carman and St Mary Magdalene in St Vital where my wife and I currently worship.
